SUGARFREE

UT Co-op Materials Lab

Austin, USA

2016

Sugarfree is an interior installation with an array of patterned light diffusers as its salient feature. Stretching from floor to ceiling, Sugarfree produces a warm, amber-colored glow transforming an otherwise unremarkable corner of institutional space. The components were fabricated as a part of a participatory workshop about made-from-scratch plastics. The material is produced from a custom mix of entirely edible ingredients that are not only renewable and nontoxic, but also enable the discovery of novel surface effects.
