Tessellated Floorscape is a mass-customized rug prototype produced for a flooring company. It makes use of carpet remnants and increases their value through a new custom pattern. The design is based on a digital animation loop from which a different key-frame is extracted each time a new piece is commissioned or sold. The extracted pattern serves as a template for on-demand waterjet cutting. Although always based on the same digital file, each rug in the series is unique in shape, material, and color.
